4 Stars
ESS' performing well.
The good: So far the product is performing really really well. Straight forward install. Products arrived imacually packaged, undamaged, charged well enough, and with all parts to correct and included. Despite cons below, they do seem to perform to specified capacity. The So-So: The terminals are actually Anderson connectors and not terminals. Not the ideal for efficiency, but easy install. Anderson terminals and RJ-45 interfaces collect every last little bit of dust and schmootz that falls on TOP of battery encclosure. No operations manual. What you see on this site is all you get. (No charge profile is concerning) No info on supported RS-485 or CAN Bus communications or supported inverters or software. Indicators of battery charge state (hopefully) gradually drift way off. I've cycled these ESS's about half a dozen times down below what should be 50% SoC. By cycle 3, the Victron BMV-712 showed 45% SoC, and the charge indicator on both ESS' incicated <20%. Charged to 29VDC, the systems only indicate ~75% charged (3 lights blinking). Overall: I'm dissapointed in the lack of documentation, and support trying to get basic charge and communication specs. That said? So far these things are quiet, appear very efficient, and were easy to install. Because I have no idea what's going on, they only get 3.5 stars for now. If I could get any sort of information to be able to see why the charge indicators seem so wildly off, I'd give these a 5 star and buy at least two more in a heartbeat.
